Previously on Reveal, we introduced Falling Whistles, a campaign advocating for peace in the Congo and a small window into our world’s largest war.
On August 2, 2012, Falling Whistles announced, “there is a new rebel army in Congo.”
The campaign updates say, a UN report showed M23, a rebel group of mutineers against the Democratic Republic of Congo, is being funded by the government of Rwanda. Composed of former members of the National Congress for the Defense of the People, M23 is using war as a tactic to gain political power inside Congo. On August 6, according to Al Jazeera, the recent disruption by M23 has now displaced nearly half a million Congolese and the rebel army may be advancing on Goma.
To counteract, in three years, the Falling Whistles campaign has invested in 8 Congolese visionaries and built a coalition of 35 congressman, 16 senators, 77 organizations, and over 50,000 “whistleblowers.”
Proceeds from the purchase of a Falling Whistle go to advocates and partners who are providing services to help rehabilitate the afflicted children of this war.
To become a whistleblower for peace, visit ABC Carpet & Home or find your voice on-line here.
The Falling Whistles campaign has committed to continue their mission until they see the end of this war. Follow them here for more news and updates about unrest in Congo.
