ABC Home & Planet Foundation picks: MISSIONmarket gifts of compassion

Gifts of compassion are donations made in a loved one’s name that provide targeted services to heal our planet and its communities. Each gift is represented with a personalized certificate in a vintage silk sari envelope.

1. A Billion Trees for a Better World through The Green Belt Movement*. A gift I received that touched my heart was 50 trees planted in my father’s name when he passed away. I have the card framed on my nightstand and whenever I look at it, I imagine all the wonderful things related to these trees, and this brings me peace. It is an amazing and powerful gift I can look at again and again and I know it’s always growing. -Dina Shackelford, General Manager, ABC Carpet & Home
*select Planet Protection – A Billion Trees For a Better World

2. Raptors as Teachers for Challenged Youth through Wind Over Wings*. This organization is dedicated to the rehabilitation of birds of prey that have suffered extreme adversity. The magnificent birds that serve as educators at Wind Over Wings have injuries that prevent them from surviving in the wild. Hope Douglass and her raptors are an inspiration: Wind Over Wings’ programming – filled with humor and heart – provides a personal connection to birds of prey with a focus on responsible stewardship of the environment. -Amy Ilias, Art Director, ABC Home
*select Animal Compassion – Raptors as Teachers for Challenged Youth

3. Famine Relief in the Horn of Africa through Mercy Corps*. Because offering basic needs, food, and medicine for a child’s survival in the Horn of Africa is the most important gift we can offer this holiday season. -Paulette Cole, CEO, ABC Home
*select Healing – Famine Relief in the Horn of Africa

ABC Carpet & Home picks

1. DwellStudio Hans Chair. This vintage-inspired chair is a great combination of wood and leather. The warmth of the leather, its patina – it’s spot on!  -Ken Pilot, Executive, ABC Home

2. Zani & Zani Padella PanIt’s nice to offer functional design gifts, and I love matte white simplicity for the kitchen. -Amy Chender, COO & Director of Social Responsibility, ABC Home

3. Gary Graham Batik Dress. Being surrounded by exotic rugs and textiles everyday is beginning to influence my fashion preferences. Lately, prints and color have overtaken my wardrobe. I particularly love the abstract nature of the print of this dress. Now and again, everyone can use a statement piece to invigorate their closet. -Angela Gruszka, Director of Branding & PR, ABC Carpet

4. Aquasilk Rug CollectionThe Aquasilk rug collection embodies the harmonious connection between nature and interiors, hand-woven by indigenous weavers in India using the finest recycled Sari silk, over-dyed with translucent subtle tones of color to compose mesmerizing, painterly compositions. The pinks are breathtaking. -Paulette Cole, CEO, ABC Home

5. Vintage British Empire Globe by Timothy Oulton. As an avid world traveler with a passion for history, I am naturally drawn to vintage maps and globes. Offering a glimpse into the past, the sculptural shape and well-worn patina of this globe will make it a unique conversation piece in any collector’s home. -Graham Head, Vice Chairman, ABC Carpet

6. Nightingale Cake Plate. Is perfect because my son never stops singing and is obsessed with cake. -Manena Frazier, Visual Director, ABC Carpet & Home

7. Sent Sofia Tube PoufSent Sofia embodies so many ABC elements. Beauty, modernity, texture, comfort and sustainability. This one hits the mark by juxtaposing a place in time and the moment: its both current and aged. Looks good in a beach house or a townhouse. A real kickback bespoke piece. -Matt Falcone, Personal Shopper, ABC Carpet & Home

8. Tammy Fender Quintessential Serum. I’ve tried a lot of different moisturizers and serums, but Tammy Fender’s is hands-down the best. It is incredibly hydrating and super emollient but not heavy or thick-feeling. Miracle in a jar-Lisa Kurczewski, SVP Creative Merchandising, ABC Home

9 & 11. Recycled Heart GarlandsA testimony to alchemy waste to gold; recycled scraps handmade by women in Oaxaca become little beautiful charms of love. -Paulette Cole, CEO, ABC Home

10. Amala Renew Rose Concentrate. I’d like 10 bottles of the Amala Turkish Rose Oil to sneak into the bags of anyone having a hard time with a little note saying, “Present moment, beautiful moment.” They won’t know who put it there. Wait. Now they will. -Manena Frazier, Visual Director, ABC Carpet & Home

12. Leather Portfolio Case by Jason RossI love the scale and rustic elegance of this piece.  It’s something to keep forever and will look more beautiful over time. -Kelly Bracher, Divisional Merchandise Manager, ABC Home
