After our NY Design Week celebration, the real revelry here begins.
Our sagacious ICFF team is always on mission for not only artistic, but conscious innovation – designers who parallel the DNA of ABC Carpet & Home and décor that allows us to mutually translate a sustainable vision of beauty.
Unique compared to what else was out there, this year we discovered Eskayel’s Poolside collection. Like a kismet meeting of the minds; it was love at first sight. The right vibe, right color, local, and falling into a theme of fluidity we’ve been exploring at ABC Home.
The woman making waves is Shanan Campanro, founder and creative director of Eskayel. A graduate of London’s Central St. Martins, her work had historically consisted of watercolors of animals to support charitable causes. Though, acting on a desire to make her art more accessible, Shanan laid the first brick on her path toward interior design when she manipulated a small bit of one of her paintings and expanded the pattern to wallpaper a wall in her home, where the first piece still lives today.
Environmentally responsible, her pillows are all natural linens, organic cotton, denim and silk blends stuffed with 100% feather down. Laundry hampers are hand-sewn in Rhode Island and each is one-of-a-kind as the pattern placement varies from one to the other.
She and her partner, Nick Chacona, reuse boxes for shipping and, moving the paradigm shift forward, she is personally encouraging all of her mom-and-pop suppliers to do the same. Be the change.
A visual diary of the time she spent at the water’s edge in Florida and California, the Poolside Collection is stimulated by the blue hues, the sun’s beat on ripples, and the sand, stone, and slate that leisurely cradle these bodies of water. Conveying the mood of water, the patterns are tranquil and moving like accenting the home with snippets of a traveler’s journal.
We will update you when we have Eskayel in-store at ABC Carpet & Home, so you might bring this poetry to your poolside. In the meantime, check out what Eskayel loved here at ABC.
