Natural Beauty with Binchotan Charcoal

When we think of charcoal, our mind doesn’t necessarily jump to beauty.  Perhaps, you may have used it to sketch, but more commonly, we know charcoal burns clean under the grill and eases an upset stomach.

New to ABC, our apothecary line utilizes charcoal’s array of benefits with its detoxifying properties for the skin, body and environment.

The core ingredient of our collection, Japanese white charcoal, known as binchō-tan, dates back to the early 1600′s.  Today, it is still thoroughly refined in traditional fashion by steaming at high temperatures of about 1000 degrees Celsius.

Explore below to learn more about binchō-tan and its multitude of aesthetic advantages.

Facial Soap:

Restores skin by purifying, exfoliating, moisturizing, and absorbing impurities. Binchō-tan charcoal helps stimulate circulation and has anti-bacterial properties.

Water purifier:

With its micro cavity walls, Binchō-tan absorbs chlorine and other chemicals from tap water, while releasing natural minerals back into it.

Scrub towel:

Ultra fine charcoal blended with polyester and cotton utilizes new technology releasing Binchō-tan’s absorption power, far infrared rays effect, and anti-odor action into exfoliating body towels.

Facial puff:

100% natural konjac and binchō-tan charcoal sponge gently exfoliates, cleanses, and effectively balances your skin’s PH level.

Pumice stone:

Binchō-tan is blended to create a pumice feel to gently exfoliate and smoothe away rough skin on feet, hands, elbows and knees.

Air freshner:

Made from ultra fine powder of activated bamboo charcoal and clay minerals, the air freshner is excellent at absorbing and trapping harmful substances from the air. Best placed in a small enclosed space such as a refrigerator or closet and may be re-used for up to 1 year by merely exposing it to sunlight every month for 6 hours.
